Fits and Starts

bodyrot This is the first (and only) band that I really really like to gain traction and (extremely deserved) attention in my area (Cleveland) and during my lifetime. I get super excited whenever I hear about them making waves in the area and try to go to as many shows as I can. Favorite track: Turtle Dove.
CLAYHAT
CLAYHAT thumbnail
CLAYHAT From top to bottom, this record has a unique, consistent sound built on inconsistency. There's something so special about this band -- I wonder if they know. Favorite track: She's A Hero.

Interstellar 02:47
The metal in our bodies comes from outer space Pieces of former planets floating in our blood streams And when we die, someone will take our place And we'll become the minerals beneath their feet And I wonder if someone, somewhere in the universe is singing the same song, looking at the sky And wondering if someone, somewhere in the universe is singing the same song, looking at the sky and wondering. So what are we supposed to do with all this time that seems so long and short? And if everything is everything Then what am I? Oh what am I? Oh what am I? Oh what am I? Oh what am I? Oh what am I? Oh what am I? And I wonder if someone, somewhere in the universe is singing the same song, looking at the sky and wondering if someone, somewhere in the universe is singing the same song, looking at the sky looking at the sky and wondering.

Hot Mom 02:08
She's a woman of the 90s, she knows what it's about. She watches Nancy Grace while she's working out. She's got dinner on the table when her husband gets home. She knows he'll never leave her, She'll never be alone. She's got a great career, but her kids come first. Diamonds flashing in her ears and extra cash in her purse. A settlement from when her boss tried to get her naked BUT THAT'S SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE IT! She's drinking every night. She's taken a lover. She's standing on the edge and she's about to go over. She thinks to herself, "Well if this is how it ends, At least I've got money! At least I've got my friends!" She's a hot mom in an SUV Hot mom in an SUV She's a hot mom in an SUV

Telephone 03:21
Pick up the phone, dear. The spiders got into my ears. They whisper very sweetly that you don't want to see me, And it's all I can hear. These bugs are catching. The eggs are hatching! And nesting in my brain and driving me insane from all the scratching! Pick up the phone dear... pick up the phone dear... pick up the phone dear... pick up the....!

Sprankles 03:01
There is no beginning and no end. There is no beginning and no end. The sun comes up every day, as far as I can see. Take what you will, What's mine is mine. Take what you will, What's mine is mine. The sun comes up every day, as far as I can see. Everything you think you know about me is wrong. I know what you think you know about me and everything you think you know is wrong. The sun comes up every day, as far as I can see, And you can't take that away from me.

She's A Hero 04:40
Baby walks on broken legs. Doesn't care that she may fall. She's a hero to us all, She's a hero to us. Baby steps on broken glass But she doesn't seem to mind. Hear the whispers from behind She's a hero to us all. Motherfucker! This isn't over. Broken and bleeding, one or the other. Not a thing to do, takes it right out of you. You got everything to prove and nothing left to lose. Baby walks on broken legs Doesn't care that she may fall. She's a hero to us all, She's a hero to us. Baby steps on broken glass and she's bleeding through her shoes. Someone always has to lose. She's a hero to us all. *** I'm not afraid anymore of growing old. If I wake up in the morning and spend my day soaring, does it mean my day has been sold? Is there something wrong with arming myself against the cold?

Last night I dreamt I was a ghost. I screamed as loud as I could, no one could hear me No one could hear me. Today I am missing. Lost in the flames while the people stampede The people stampede. Everybody panic, everybody panic! Everybody panic, everybody panic! Everybody panic, everybody panic! I'll take my action where I can. Don't want to miss out on my chance to make history, be part of the story. Besides, who needs a reason When there's nothing else When there's nothing else When there's nothing else to do?! Being unemployed is such a drag. Spend my time just smoking fags. And listening to the news. And wishing for something to do. I'm so bored I can't stand it! Everybody panic, everybody panic! Everybody panic, everybody panic! Everybody panic, everybody panic!

Turtle Dove 03:40
Build me up from the ground Tear me down without a sound I am yours, you know. Build me up from the ground Tear me down without a sound I am yours, you know. Hey, hey, I'm so lucky I've got both of my feet under me. Find a penny, pick it up All your life you'll give a fuck. Hey, hey, you and me. This could work, don't you agree? Love is pain and pain is love. Won't you be my turtle dove? Won't you be my turtle dove? Is it me you're thinking of? Break away from the night Let me stay inside the light I am more than you know. Build me up I've got both of my feet under me From the ground Find a penny, pick it up, all your life you'll give a fuck. Tear me down Hey, hey, you and me, this could work don't you agree? without a sound Love is pain and pain is love, won't you be my turtledove I am yours Won't you be my turtle dove? You know. Is it me you're thinking of? Know. No. Know. No. Know. No.

about

"Fits and Starts" is the sophomore effort by Cleveland band The Village Bicycle. It's noisy and dirty and was made with unwavering love and hard work and beer, much like the city of Cleveland itself. "Fits and Starts" is The Village Bicycle's attempt at defeating the ever-looming gray haze of apathy with aggressive distribution of skittles and noise.
